The type of acne scar depends on the size and depth of the pre-existing acne. Dermatologists are creative in the naming of these acne scars.

Ice Pick Scars

As the name suggests, this scar looks like a defect that is left by an ice-pick. It is one of the hardest to treat with resurfacing lasers alone due to how deep it is. Needle radiofrequency (single needle) can treat narrower scars with good results.

Rolling Scars

Rolling acne scars have a roller appearance. A subcision procedure and scar fillers will work wonderfully “to raise the roll” (thereby flattening it), and the resurfacing treatments, such as Pico or CO2 resurfacing laser, will smooth out the surface.

Boxed Scars

CO2 Laser Treatment

C02 laser treatment works by reducing the appearance of acne scarring by stimulating collagen production that helps tighten and smooth out the scars. C02 may not be effective for all types of acne and is often used in combination with other treatments.
